Types of Sedation
We offer three levels of sedation to match your comfort needs and the complexity of your procedure.
Nitrous Oxide
Minimal Sedation
Also known as "laughing gas," nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small mask placed over the nose. It produces a feeling of calm and relaxation within minutes. You remain fully conscious and can respond to instructions. The effects wear off quickly after the mask is removed, allowing you to drive yourself home afterward.
Oral Sedation
Moderate Sedation
Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment, typically a benzodiazepine such as triazolam. This produces a deeper level of relaxation than nitrous oxide. You may feel drowsy and have limited memory of the procedure. A responsible adult must drive you to and from the appointment.
IV Sedation
Deep Sedation
Intravenous sedation delivers medication directly into the bloodstream for rapid, adjustable sedation. You will be in a state of deep relaxation and likely have no memory of the procedure. Our team monitors your vital signs continuously throughout treatment. This option is ideal for lengthy or complex procedures and severe dental anxiety.

Sedation helps suppress the gag reflex, making procedures more comfortable for both patient and dentist.
Lengthy or Complex Procedures
Multiple treatments or surgical procedures can be completed in fewer visits with sedation.
Special Needs Patients
Individuals with physical, cognitive, or behavioral conditions that make standard dental care difficult.
Sensitive Teeth or Gums
Patients with heightened sensitivity who find it difficult to tolerate even routine cleanings.

Your Safety Is Our Priority
Patient safety is the foundation of our sedation practice. Before recommending any sedation method, we conduct a comprehensive review of your medical history, current medications, and any allergies. This allows us to select the safest and most effective sedation option for your individual health profile.
During your procedure, our trained team continuously monitors your vital signs including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate. We maintain emergency protocols and equipment on-site at all times. Our clinicians hold current certifications in sedation administration and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
After your treatment, we provide detailed post-sedation instructions and ensure you have a responsible adult to accompany you home when required. We follow up to confirm your recovery is progressing smoothly.
